From online forms to assist you in the re-certification process, to information about in-service trainings (you are required to obtain 26 hours of in-service training), and support groups / parent coaching, described below, this website serves as an online resource for you and your family.

Parent Coaching and Support Group

The Parent Coaching and Support Group will assist foster parents manage the challenges of working with youth in therapeutic foster care. The primary focus of the support group is to develop and strengthen skills needed to care for traumatized youth; with challenging behaviors. The support group is an opportunity to discuss the challenges you face daily and an opportunity to learn how others have managed similar challenges.

In this group, foster parents will:

  • Discuss strategies for dealing with challenging behaviors
  • Develop and strengthen de-escalation skills
  • How to engage with youth when they’re in crisis
  • Identify ways to reduce aggression
  • Recognize personal triggers
  • Share techniques that have worked for them

The group is held on the first Thursday of each month, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at our Lanham office, 10001 Derekwood Lane, Suite 208, Lanham MD. 20706. The second Tuesday of each month; 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at our Catonsville location, 2 West Rolling Crossroads, Suite 207, Catonsville, MD
